We spoke to the Guardian about our ongoing projects in Democratic Republic of Congo supporting girls formerly associated with the country's armed groups.

For some children, joining an armed group can be the only way of securing food, security, to protect their family, while some might join for revenge

Being part of fighting and seeing violent acts is kind of normal, that is seen all the time. But the girls we really ashamed that they had to steal from others to survive came out very strong [in our interviews]
