On Tuesday, 12 February, International Day against the use of child soldiers, the organization BVES, one of our partners in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), organized an awareness-raising day in Bukavu (South Kivu), with the financial and technical support of Child Soldiers International.
The event gathered dozens of UN and NGO child protection professionals, as well as regional political/military authorities and the media. Speakers all called on armed forces and armed groups to end the recruitment and use of children; they also strongly denounced impunity for perpetrators.
