Introduction

Child Soldiers International works to prevent the military recruitment of children and their involvement in armed conflict through a combination of targeted country work, thematic research and global monitoring.

Through our thematic research and analysis we seek to inform and improve national and international policy and action through enhancing knowledge and understanding of the causes and complexity of child recruitment and use, and identifying sustainable solutions. We also undertake global monitoring of the state of child recruitment and use in all states, the results of which are published in our Child Soldiers Global Reports.

Our research and advocacy on selected countries is aimed at: ending recruitment of children and their use by state armed forces and non-state armed groups operating there; strengthening accountability frameworks; and ensuring the release and reintegration of girls and boys associated with fighting forces. Where possible we work in partnership with local NGOs in target countries to design and implement projects. We seek to engage governments in a dialogue in these countries, and conduct international advocacy to bring about change.
