Environmental Policy

Child Soldiers International is committed to continual improvement in reducing its effect on the environment in any reasonable way possible. Our main environmental impacts arise from: greenhouse gas emissions from energy use and travel; the use of non-renewable resources; and waste generation. To minimize this impact the following guidelines have been set out:

Environmental Legislation
•    We aim to meet, and where possible exceed, the requirements of environmental legislation

Recycling and waste
•    We aim to recycle waste produced from the office, such as paper and ink cartridges etc.
•    We aim to reduce our production of waste materials e.g. by printing as little as possible and using both sides of the paper
•    We will dispose of computers and other IT equipment in a responsible manner, recycling where possible

Travel
•    The employees of Child Soldiers International will use public transport wherever possible for journeys incurred for work purposes
•    Where practical, journeys to Europe will be made by train

Energy
•    We will ensure that energy is saved wherever possible in the office by switching off all lights and electrical appliances out of office hours
•    Desktop computers and laptops will be switched off when not in use

Purchasing
•    Where possible we aim to source goods and services locally, from suppliers that demonstrate sound environmental performance
•    We aim to purchase goods made from recycled materials wherever possible

Responsibility for implementation of this policy lies with every member of staff. This policy will be reviewed annually.
